A Patient Care Technician works under direct supervision of a nurse performing clinical skills, recording vital signs like temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate & blood pressure, measuring height and weight, preparing the examination room to be ready for the physician to examine the patient, performing different modes of electrocardiography such as; lead ekg, or an ekg on a dextrocardiac individual, phlebotomy, IV’s, and wound care. Additional skills required may be patient care skills which may include but not limited to; range of motion exercises, patient transfer skills, gait techniques, patient protection and hygiene, patient positions, etc.
